Blurring the boundaries between art, sculpture and design — Marc Wood views his lights as a form of expression and beauty. A focal piece, jewelry for the home.

MARC WOOD

Classic material processes are reimagined for a modern audience through Marc Wood’s collection of lighting, handmade by a small team of makers in his London-based workshop.

Born to an English mother and a Czech father, Marc was raised with a diverse cultural background. His family has deep-rooted connections with craftsmanship and a legacy in the Czech glass industry. His ancestor, Frans Wais, was the brother-in-law and business partner of Daniel Swarovski. Together they created and patented the first electric glass crystal cutting machine that revolutionized the glass industry.

His upbringing has fueled a passion for heritage craft, and because his work draws on the skills of the best craftspeople he can find — he partners with industry-leading craftspeople for some components, such as Czech glass artists and Italian stonemasons. Inspired by his heritage, glass still remains his primary material and much of it gets produced in the next village from his grandparents’ farmhouse to this day.
